History of club
Since the formation of the team in 2003, The Mavericks have competed in the WCBL. Bringing home the championship 3 times: 2003, 2014, 2018

History Timeline

2003
The Medicine Hat Mavericks are formed and join the Western Canadian Baseball League. Bringing home the championship in our inaugural season.

2013
Heavy flooding cause major damage to Athletic Park, moving The Mavs up the hill to Jeffries Park.

2014
The excitement among the 1,184 fans packed into Athletic Park was electric by the ninth inning, with one out left.
The Medicine Hat Mavericks were ahead and needed one more out to secure the Western Major Baseball League Championship, their first championship since 2003.
The team had made it to the finals for three seasons in a row, but settled for runner-up. Saturday night, they would be the champions.
Josh Johnson of the Swift Current Indians hit the ball to centre field, where it was easily caught by Bryan Arthur to roars from the crowd and his teammates. The Mavericks stormed the field, winning 6-3, taking the championship series three games to one.

2018
The Medicine Hat Mavericks are the 2018 WMBL champs.
They beat out the Regina Red Sox 8-2 Thursday, August 16, in front of a sell-out crowd at Athletic Park in Medicine Hat.
It’s the third title for the Mavericks, after having won in 2003 and again in 2014.

2020
The complete 2020 season of the Western Canadian Baseball League was cancelled on Thursday according to Dave Dormer of CTV News because of coronavirus. Two of the major reasons for the cancellation is because the border between Canada and the United States is closed and because there are still significant restrictions regarding mass gatherings in Canada.

2021
“Knowing this will be the second summer without Mavericks Baseball in Medicine Hat, it has been an extremely difficult decision. The rise in COVID-19 cases and increased health restrictions make it very challenging to foresee a summer with fan and sponsor involvement. This will be tough on our fans, staff, and players, but is the best choice to protect the long–term viability of the Mavericks organization.” Mavs GM/ Owner, Greg Morrison.
