The Medicine Hat Mavericks fell behind early Tuesday night.
The Mavericks allowed 10 runs in the first three innings in Regina as they lost 10-1 to the Red Sox.
Medicine Hat came into the contest after splitting a double header Monday night in Regina, falling 8-6 in Game 1 and winning 4-2 in Game 2. Tuesday’s game was their third of four games with the final matchup of the week going Wednesday night in Regina.
The Red Sox got on the board early with four runs in the first inning off Mavericks starter Hunter Cooper. He worked two innings on the mound with three strikeouts before Kameron Richards took over in the third inning to pitch an inning himself.
Nathan Stark entered the contest on the mound at the beginning of the fourth inning with Regina ahead 10-0. Stark held the Red Sox to one hit while striking out five batters in three innings pitched.
The Mavericks got their lone run in the top of the seventh inning on a sacrifice hit from designated hitter Zach Stark that scored first basemen Hunter Boylan from third. Medicine Hat was held to three hits in the loss, with centre fielder Braden DeSonia, right fielder David Dell and second basemen Deon Reese notching the markers.
Garrett Nicholson and Christian Rush pitched the seventh and eighth innings with Rush picking up a strikeout in his appearance.
The Mavericks(16-29) contest Wednesday against the Red Sox gets underway at 7:05 p.m. They return to Athletic Park Thursday night for a 7:05 p.m. game against the Swift Current Broncos.
